Tomtek Tackle 9-strand PE Superline Supercast Braid
5 Great reasons to buy from us:
The Supercast PE Superline is a quality fishing braid, manufactured in the same factory where some of the top international brands come from. It consists of 9 fibres braided together with pinpoint precision.
The state-of-the-art braiding process utilised gives us a fishing line that has a softer feel but greater strength, low stretch, no memory and highly resistant to abrasion.
The 9-strands braiding method allows us to create a line that is perfectly cylindrical in profile. This eliminates the sharp edges of the braid which is prevalent in lower strand lines - especially when twisted. This characteristic coupled with the softer more pliable feel, allows your line to smoothly unwind off the spool. This improves casting distance as well as minimises wind knots. It is ideal for most landbased applications like surf fishing, spinning lures, etc. - where castability is a priority.
8-carrier vs 9-carrier. Which One?
Tomtek Outdoors have specifically come up with the 8X and 9X to provide you with a way to fine-tune your gear. Though both lines are equally strong, they do differ in how they are woven - thus affecting the profile/shape of the line.
The 8-strand has a more squarish profile. This braiding process is a good way to create a strong, thin & compact line. The advantage of this is an increase in spool capacity(think square boxes inside a carton). Theoretically, you can pack more of it in a spool than a 9-strand. The disadvantage of having this type of profile is that edges tend to dig in when spooling, especially when there is a lot of line twist. This creates some resistance when casting, sometimes even bad wind knots, thus affecting the distance. This is not favourable to landbased surf, estuary & rock fishing - and is more suited where casting is not a priority, like boat fishing.
The 9-strand braid has a more cylindrical shape; due to the weaving process applied. There are no edges on them per say - which means it is less likely to dig. In fact, it keeps its round profile - even when twisted! This provides you with a line that passes through the guides better and does not dig during winding - therefore unravels off your spool easier as well as minimises wind knots; This is a great feature especially for surf fishing, spinning lures, squiding, etc. However, due to its shape, you are not able to fit as much line on the spool compared to the 8-strand(think balls in a carton). This is usually not a big of an issue in landbased fishing, compared to offshore.
